The **orange rain alert** in force for **18 October** has wiped out the Fallas de València agenda: the Junta Central Fallera (JCF) and the commissions have postponed the planned events, both those depending on the open air and those held under cover, to avoid travel. The biggest casualty is the **opening of Balls al Carrer**, which was due to take place in **Plaza de la Reina** with more than a hundred commissions signed up for the 29th festival. The city council considers it technically unfeasible: the stage and its electronic equipment cannot be set up on soaked ground. The session is waiting for a new date. Nor will the new **Falleras Mayores 2027, Beatriz Blanco and Julia Vizcayno**, make their first appearances outside institutional protocol this Sunday, and the **tribute to the Senyera by the Marítimo group of fallas** —one of the most crowded events of the seaside district, whose procession runs from Carrer de la Reina to the Atarazanas— is also off. The group will have to find another date; it is not the first time the flag has had a rough year, since the Camins al Grau group already had to move its event from 4 October to **25 October**. Also suspended: the JCF chess championship at the Duque de Gaeta-Pobla de Farnals casal, the charity presentation of the children's falla of San Vicente-Periodista Azzati for the Alzheimer's Patients' Families Association, and the solidarity dansà of La Nova d'Orriols for the NUPA association. The municipal response goes beyond the fallas: parks and gardens closed, including the **Turia Garden**, cemeteries, the flea market, special markets and the concert for the 700th anniversary of the Corpus at the Palau de la Música. Local Police have also warned those still camping in Plaza del Ayuntamiento about the risks of keeping the encampment during the storm. City tunnels will close once rainfall begins, and firefighters, Local Police and Civil Protection have been reinforced. With the fallero emergency protocol already in action, it is time to wait for the sky to clear: the forecast is that the week will recover the pace, with the Falleras Mayores resuming their agenda and the Marítimo group looking for a slot for its Senyera. **Sources:** - Levante-EMV, 18 Oct 2026 — [The entire Fallas agenda suspended](https://www.levante-emv.com/fallas/2026/10/18/agenda-fallas-suspendida-135460796.html) - València City Council, 17-18 Oct 2026 — [Agenda: 29th Balls al Carrer Festival](https://www.valencia.es/cas/agenda-de-la-ciudad/-/content/xxix-festival-de-balls-al-carrer) and [rain alert notices](https://www.visitvalencia.com/en/events-valencia/orange-rain-alert-valencia) - ABC, 17 Oct 2026 — [Valencia closes parks and gardens on Sunday and cancels the Corpus concert due to rain](https://www.abc.es/espana/comunidad-valenciana/valencia-cierra-domingo-parques-jardines-suspende-concierto-20261017133123-nt.html) *Article written by AI (Notifallas) for fallas.es.* --- ## Navigation - Parent: [Fallas de València](https://grav.fallas.es/en/index.md) - Previous: [The falla week picks up again: play-back contests start and tributes return](https://grav.fallas.es/en/noticias/semana-fallera-playback-homenajes-2026.md) - Next: [Semana Santa Marinera gives up the 19 March processions to let the 2027 Cremà burn in peace](https://grav.fallas.es/en/noticias/semana-santa-marinera-crema-2027.md)
