# Xavier Claur's alfabegueres, the reign's first gift: Beatriz and Julia receive the City Council's official presents

   17/10/2026 [falleras-mayores](https://grav.fallas.es/en/noticias/tag:falleras-mayores) [reign](https://grav.fallas.es/en/noticias/tag:reign) [jcf](https://grav.fallas.es/en/noticias/tag:jcf) [city-council](https://grav.fallas.es/en/noticias/tag:city-council) [2027](https://grav.fallas.es/en/noticias/tag:2027)

The 2027 reign already has its first official portrait. On the very day of the **Proclamation in the Municipal Hemicycle**, **Beatriz Blanco Tamarit** and **Julia Vizcayno Orero** were received in the **Salón de Cristal of Valencia City Council** alongside the mayoress, **María José Catalá**; the councillor for Fallas and president of the Junta Central Fallera, **Santiago Ballester**, and the JCF board. There, as tradition dictates, the two new Falleras Mayores were presented with the **alfabegueres made by Xavier Claur**, the first gift the city gives to its highest representatives.

The detail, according to the **Junta Central Fallera**, was rounded off with the **official photo session**: Beatriz and Julia posed alongside their **Courts of Honour**, the authorities and the rest of the guests in one of the images that opens the album of the new fallero year. The ceremony came just hours after the City Hall staircase, on an afternoon in which emotion marked every step of the protocol.

The alfabegueres —the basil bouquets the City Council has handed to the Falleras Mayores for years— add a new chapter to a tradition that makes basil one of the symbols of the start of the reign. With this gesture, the City Council has officially kicked off the mandate of Beatriz and Julia, who this very week have already started their agenda with the reception at **Una Festa Per A Tots** and their first media round.

From now until March the calendar leaves no room to rest: official receptions, the choice of the colour of their **espolines** and, as the big January event, the **Exaltació** at the Palau de la Música. The picture in the Salón de Cristal, with their two freshly worn bands, stands as the first family portrait of the 2027 reign.
