València City Council has started processing the call for grants to falla commissions for the construction of the big and children fallas of 2027. The planned funding comes to €2,694,438.49, nearly €2.7 million, and will cover 30% of the tax base of the amount declared by each commission, within the limits set by the call's terms.

The proposal, announced this Tuesday 20 October by the Fallas delegation, is still in the administrative processing phase and pending approval. The councillor in charge of Fallas, Santiago Ballester, stressed that the aim is to speed up the paperwork so commissions can file their applications before Christmas and receive the grant before the plantà of the monuments, so municipal support arrives in the final stretch of construction.

The measure is one of the largest financial procedures the council handles each year and also answers a long-standing complaint from the falla world: payment delays in previous editions left many commissions without their grant until well into spring. Under the new timetable, the money should reach the casals before the monuments are set up in the streets.

The call will set out in its terms the requirements, documentation and conditions for awarding and paying the grants. The Fallas, needless to say, are inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and building the monuments keeps falla artists and professionals working all year round.
