# València City Council sends a formal request to the Government Delegation and warns of legal action if the camp disrupts 9 d'Octubre

The standoff over **City Hall square** has entered a new phase. On Tuesday, the city council sent a **prior formal request** to the Government Delegate in the Valencian Community, **Pilar Bernabé**, warning of **legal action** if she fails to guarantee the "normal" running of the **9 d'Octubre** events, with the square occupied since Saturday by the housing-rights camp.

The document, signed by the councillor for Citizen Security, **Jesús Carbonell**, is based on Law 29/1998 on the administrative contentious jurisdiction: it is the step required before filing an appeal against another administration. Mayor **María José Catalá** sticks to her position of suspending or moving nothing and has wondered aloud whether anyone "would understand if the Diada could not be held in Catalonia", while the delegate, **Pilar Bernabé**, recalls that the campers are exercising "a fundamental right of assembly" and that the Delegation is not there "to change realities, but to guarantee safety". Two days before the big day, the **civic procession** of the Reial Senyera, the **mascletà** by Hermanos Caballer (scheduled for around 2:00 pm) and the 21st Moors and Christians Entry are still on the programme, but with the camp at the centre of the stage.
