València remains the world capital of gunpowder until Friday. The XX International Symposium on Fireworks, which brings some 400 industry professionals to the city, enters its final stretch with the most distinctive night of its public programme: this Thursday 15 October, by the sea, three fireworks displays and a drone show by US company Verge Aero will follow one after another.

Everything takes place at Calle Eugenia Viñas at Avenida de Neptuno, on the seafront. The programme starts at 8:00 pm with Pirotecnia Vulcano, at 8:25 pm Italian firm Pirotecnia Parente takes over and at 8:50 pm comes the highlight: the Verge Aero drone show, drawing luminous shapes above the sea. The night ends at 9:15 pm with Pirotecnia San Pio, also from Italy. Concentrating the displays in one spot is designed so the public can compare, in a single session, very different ways of understanding the art of gunpowder.

The seaside event thus combines Valencian pyrotechnic tradition with aerial technology, a format that has become one of the draws of this edition. The symposium, which began on Sunday 11 with an opening ceremony that had to be cancelled because of the camp in Plaza del Ayuntamiento, has regained its stride with the shows at the Meliá hotel (despertà and correfoc) and two nights of fireworks on the seafront. The closing show will be on Friday 16 October at 10:30 pm at the Alameda, in front of the Palau de les Arts, with a display by Pirotecnia Igual.

All shows are free and open to the public. València hosts for the first time the most important international congress of the fireworks industry, promoted at the request of the Asociación Española de la Pirotecnia (AEPIRO), in a week in which the city combines gunpowder, fallera tradition and a look at the sector's future.
